As I become more and more popular on the internet, more and more people come to me with questions such as: "Can I use your art as my profile picture? Is it okay for me to share your art with others?". I think it would be nice for me to make a statement of sorts... And not just explain whether it's okay to use my art, but also some of my values as an artist.

Purpose of my art/why I create

There is no simple answer to this, obviously. But two wishes overarch my craft:

I wish for my art to make others happy. This is why I enjoy drawing fanart, gift art, and postive stuff. I hope that looking at my drawings brings you joy!

I wish to express reverence towards my favorite pieces of media and my favorite artists. My passion often lies in fandom and I want to draw my favorite characters over and over because of how much I like them. If I drew a character once, it means that I care about them and the source material.

Accessibility of my art

Since I create to make others happy, I want my art to be as accessible as possible. Unfortunately, I do paywall some of it by posting it on Boosty because I live in a capitalist society and need some way of making money. But aside from that, my art is free to view on this website and on my social media.

Reposting/sharing of my art

My desire for my art to be accessible extends to my opinion on reposts - I am fine with them. Feel free to share my art in private and publically. And I would obviously prefer it if you shared it with good intentions, haha.

If you shared my art among friends to praise it, consider leaving a comment that I can see. No pressure, of course, but I would be happy to hear something nice about what I made! I don't check my notifications all the time, so I might not see it for a while, but I always enjoy reading what others said about my art.

Usage of my art

You are free to use my art for most non-commerical activities. You can use it as your profile picture or a faceclaim and as your phone/desktop wallpaper. I am fine with you making merch for personal use (such as a badge or a poster) using my art. It's cool to use my art in Youtube videos, edits, moodboards, etc.

Do not sell/commercialize my art without asking first.

Preservation of my art

In the past, I had a habit of deleting my art during depressive episodes or when I thought that it looks too bad to stay on the web. I am trying my best to avoid doing that now. I know how upsetting it can be to find out that your favorite drawing, or even your favorite artist, suddenly disappeared from the Internet. I don't want anyone to feel this way about me, so I try my best to keep an archive of my work on Tumblr, Deviantart, Pixiv, and this website.

Unfortunately, I have some baggage/trauma related to my art being publically ridiculed. This is why I keep some of my art "hidden", e.g. only available on this website; and why I prefer to post in batches instead of piece-by-piece. But if I do end up posting something, I will try my best to keep it there instead of deleting it.

If you are a fan of my work, I give you full permission to preserve my artwork in a personal archive (like a folder on your computer) in case it ever gets deleted.

Taking inspiration from my art and referencing it

Both are completely fine. Having a source of inspiration is an integral part of artistic growth, it's what often drives us to create in the first place. Likewise, using your favorite artists' works as references can help you understand what you want your art to look like, what you'd like to improve, or what you value in art in general.

(Although I advise against using my art to study realistic anatomy, as I heavily stylize things I draw, lol)
